Pretty much sums up my efforts here, and Mizzou football so far. In one word, it's been an embarrassment. I don't know how we've managed to stay ranked through the first three games. We crushed SEMO in a game we should have one, we squeaked one out at Arkansas St, and then there was the mess that was Saturday. If you love special teams play, you would have enjoyed it. A blocked punt for a saftey, a blocked extra point, two fake field goals including the final play of the game, and a missed field goal resulted in a 9-6 win over UCONN. The UCONN coach is an idiot faking a field goal with :30 left inside the 30 yard line, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Our offense has zero identity right now. Matty Mauk needs to lay off the coke or freshman Drew Lock will steal his spot soon enough. It doesn't help when he no good receivers to throw to. Our leading returning rusher has been out since the first drive of the opener, and backup running back Ish Witter has only 131 yards since (despite a pretty awesome name). The D has been ok: LBs Scherer and Brothers have killed it and the D-Line has looked good (even though freshman Beckner was in a car crash the day before our last game). Also, Baggett still can't do his job as kicker; I even watched him miss three PATs in a row at practice last week. Gary needs to tighten up the DBs and talk some sense into Mauk (or just replace him already). Our defense gives us potential to win the SEC East again, but we need a better offense to get us there.
Up next for Mizzou is the start of SEC play at Kentucky.
