Campus was more normal today. Both of my classes today were full which was a great sign. Now, to today's developments.
The STL Post-Dispatch did some digging on the Wolfe and Loftin's resignations and reported their findings today, which you can read here. What they found was that Wolfe's conduct these past two months led to his departure, not the hunger strike. In the end, Wolfe voluntarily left his position and didn't take a severance package, which is very shocking to me. Chancellor Loftin, on the other hand, was essentially demoted by the Board of Curators because they didn't want to fire him. Apparently, most of the staff and Board were more upset by Loftin than Wolfe. Loftin's tenure as Chancellor has been marred by missteps and becoming an enemy of deans, staffers, and students. Curators who were interviewed said that Loftin frequently blindsided them with his decisions, and that his legacy is "that of a master of public relations but a disaster in management". Not how I, nor many others, thought that he was all that bad.
In other news, FiveThirtyEight (great site by the way, especially for a Stats guy like me) had a piece today about Mizzou and the demands of the Concerned Students 1950. According to their numbers, Mizzou would need to hire roughly 400 black faculty and staff to meet the CS1950 demands of 10%!! They also show that black students are increasingly likely to drop out, with their retention rate at just over 80%. That was another concern by CS1950, who demanded higher retention rates, but I don't know if those numbers are due to Mizzou or the students themselves.
Residential Life released the photos of the infamous Poop Swastika today. Their report detailed several racial problems from the dorm floor in question. One student was accused of making anti-semitic comments towards a Jewish frat (AEPi for those who are knowledgeable about frats, Seeeen). This leads me to believe that the Poop Swastika was directed at Jews and not blacks, but that is how it was taken.
One piece of good news today. The student who filmed Melissa Click filed a simple assault charge today against her. Yet, she and the other women in the video have yet to have been fired.
Finally, this email was sent out today to all Mizzou students.

More incidents of vandalism geared towards blacks. This sheeet has to stop already.
If you didn't see it, Barstool Dixie was here for a day and a half. The Barstool Dixie PSA from Mizzou was pretty funny, so I'm including the video below to finish the blog on a lighter note.
That's all I got for now. Stay tuned for more Mizzou news. Reporting live from Columbia, Gunshow, Honer Sports Missouri.
