I guess losing to the 3-9 Jets while jumping out to a 14-0 lead to start the game just about brings us to yet another feeling of hitting rock-bottom. Everything that could go wrong, pretty much did. The 49ers once again let a 3rd string QB lead a 2nd-half victory charge, a 2nd string RB go for 100+ yards rushing and saw Colin Kaep completely melt down with the offense and score 0 points in the 3rd, 4th and OT periods. HC Chip Kelly may have just shown that bringing him back for a 2nd season is almost as bad an idea as keeping GM Trent Baalke. The Jets came in as a team that had given up on their season, they came out with hope that at least things aren't as bad as being a Jet, than a 49er.
Before the season began, the nay-sayers were definitely out there in high amount. Scores of people in the sports world knew that Chip Kelly and the 49ers slew of draft picks weren't enough to make any progression from Tomsula's 5-win group. Not to mention the complete neglection of signing any free agents to help this team improve. However the 49er front office and their entourage of ass-kissing friends insisted that things were looking up. A flashy new offense was coming, a younger, faster defense was going to keep us in ball games. Now? Well the 49ers are the Browns of the west coast, a laughing stock among other NFL teams/fans.
The thing about the York family is that they are billionaires. They don't have to step out in the public eye and they don't have to listen to the public's opinions. All of this negativity surrounding the team they own really doesn't cause them to lose sleep at night. Why would it? This is a family that has gone through fan-negativity in the past. Even though they have shown that they have no idea how to run a successful football organization, they still own the 49ers. Until they decide to answer all of our prayers and sell the team, we as fans have no control or idea of what the Yorks will do next. Maybe it's demoting their own son out of the CEO position and brigning in someone they have approved to run the team. Maybe it's staying the course and allowing Jed York to attempt to dig himself out of the hole he himself dug (which possibly/probably will never happen).
Don't fight it, join the 49er dark-side. See you next week after the Falcons drop 40+ points on us.
