I'm done with Kaepernick, I really am. I liked the chip on his shoulder and his athleticism when he took Alex Smith's job and tore through the NFL a few seasons ago. But now that it's 2016, he's done nothing but regressed and made stupid decisions off the field (just refer to his Twitter/Instagram for examples). It's time for the 49ers to move on. If Kaepernick rebounds his own career and becomes a high caliber QB again, good for him but the 49ers aren't the team to help him do so, no way.
All of that being said, kudos to Kaep and his agents for not budging on taking a pay cut. When Kaep signed his extension, critics blasted the contract's specifics and amount of money Kaep was guaranteed. Later it was found out that the contact was extremely team-friendly and allows the 49ers to handle Kaep on a season-by-season basis with high performance incentives/expectations. Fast-forward to 2016, the 49ers are trying to work out a trade with Denver but there are some road blocks, the biggest one being that Kaep's 11.9 million dollar salary doesn't fit under the minimal cap space that Denver has available. Denver wants Kaep to take a massive pay-cut and/or have the 49ers pay a portion of his salary.
If I'm Kaepernick, there's no way I'm forfeiting almost 5 million dollars, it's 5 million dollars. Playing in the NFL is brutal, you have to make your money while you can make it. Almost every player in the NFL would take an extra 5 million dollars to play on a shitty team or deal with an awkward locker room in the meantime before being eventually traded.
Let's break down some conversations that are probably going down right now.

Let's break down some conversations that are probably going down right now.
**Conversation 1: Kaep & John Elway**
Elway: Hey there, young whipper-snapper (or however Elway talks?). What say you bring your talent up here Denver? We got a strong defense and a solid coaching staff, your career could really rebound up here.
Kaepernick: Sounds coo. You guys gonna keep paying me my 12 mil?
Elway: Errr...No. We don't have the cap space there, young fella. You'll need to take a pay cut.
Kaepernick: Tall-ass Brock just got 18 mil in Houston tho, why you sweatin my 12, when it's 6 mil cheap fo y'all than Brock would've been?
Elway: Two different players and contracts there, sport. We also don't have the cap space because you know, we just won a Super Bowl on your field and pay players handsomely for having done so.
Kaepernick: I'm feelin y'all, but need my stacks. Talk to Trent and try to get me outta here, but I'm not going to give up my guaranteed stacks. Gotta keep my shoe and hat game on point, feel me?
**Conversation 2: Elway and Trent**
(ring ring...ring ring...)
Trent: Hello? Who is this? Jed is it you? I'm working my tail off for you over here, I promise.
Elway: Trent, how's it going? John Elway here.
Trent: John, really busy here. Appreciate the call but I'm not looking to take the GM job up in Denver till I'm done winning Jed a Super Bowl down here.
Elway: Actually Trent, we are all set with upper management up here. I actually wanted to discuss trading for Colin.
Trent: (noticabley irked) Colin is very happy here. He just told me 4 months ago. I'll tell you what I've told other teams. We won't accept anything but a 1st or 2nd round pick for him.
Elway: We can give you a 2nd rounder but we also would need Colin to take a pay-cut. If you guys cover 4.9 million of his contract this season, we can get this done right now.
Trent: Let me call Jed. I can't spend any money without his say-so.
**Conversation 3: Jed and Trent**
(ring ring...ring ring...)
Jed: What.
Trent: Hey Jed! Great to hear from you! How's the family? Mom's OK? How's your Uncle? Tell him congrats for me! Working real hard for you down here!
Jed: Get to the point, Trent. Paraag and I are about to hit the links.
Trent: Yes, yes, very sorry sir. Elway wants Kaep and will give us some nice picks for him. We have to pay 4.9 million of his contract this season but we have plenty of cap space and could really use those picks for Chip.
Jed: No spending money, Trent. It's mine. Do what Paraag tells you. (click)
**Conversation 4: Trent and Elway**
(ring ring...ring ring..)
Trent: Hello? Who is this?
Elway: Trent, John Elway calling back. You talk to Jed?
Trent: Oh...Yeah...Uhhh...Jed said no.
Elway: As in no to the deal or no to trading Kaep?
Trent: No to spending money. I think he is OK with trading Kaep but not OK with spending money on a player not on our roster.
Elway: Geez, grow some balls, Trent. You want the guy on your roster or not? 4.9 million is still cheaper than 11.9 million, this is basic math.
Trent: Well uh...let's talk before the draft. Maybe Jed will be in a better mood by then.
Elway: Fine.
