Everyone is always so enticed by how the Oakland A's are able to win with the talent they have. However I'm here to tell you that being on the A's means you will never truly win. From 2013-2014 the A's were the best team in baseball during the regular season and playing unbelievably fun baseball that would make any baseball fan drool. They had an incredible first half and looked poised to make a deep postseason run. Then on that dark day of July 31st at 6:31am PST Billy Beane decided he was tired of winning and traded 2x Home Run Derby Champion and Team leader Yoenis Cespedes for John Lester when they already had the number 1 team ERA in baseball.
Moneyball is supposed to based off numbers and ignoring the human element, except any true A's fan would know that there was something going on with that team that numbers couldn't see. Everyone knew Cespedes was injury prone, but when he was out the A's played just over .400 baseball. So when he was traded, I knew what was coming. The A's then went on to have the worst ever second half by any team to make the playoffs by playing just under .400 baseball. This again proves why no matter what Billy does he manages to screw up everything every year.
This offseason he had a great pitching staff and a great infield and managed to trade all that away for "more" talent. Well guess what Billy, the A's are playing .352 baseball and have the worst record in baseball through the first two months.
Players such as Yoenis and Josh Donaldson are finally starting to come forth and call him out for being "cheap and playing up this poor fasaude" and questioning whether "he really knows what he's doing" and whether "he really wants to win a championship" All of which means free agents are going to stop coming because their other doofus leading the organization, Lew Wolfe, is too ball less to help build a stadium.
Until then the A's will play piss poor baseball in their dog shit stadium.
Sometimes I almost wish I was I followed in my father's footsteps and went with the orange and black....but then I quickly come to my senses and go back to quietly crying over my green and gold.
