Warriors, Spurs, etc, etc... Wait a second!
The Kings have the 8 seed at the halfway point in the season?! Don't hit refresh, you are reading that right folks. The Kings are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference after a big win last night against the Kobe Bryant's (aka the Lakers). Albeit they are a very streaky team this year, but George Karl somehow has this team clicking. They have the best true PG in the state of California in Rajon Rondo, who is averaging 11.7 assists per game and had this nasty dunk last night.
Moreover, the Kings have the best center in the NBA in DeMarcus Cousins. Yes, he still has a problem with dumb technicals, but he's playing off the charts this season. He's averaging 26.2 points per game (good for 4th in the league, best among centers) and 11.2 boards (also 4th in the league). Needless to say, he NEEDS to be in the All Star Game.
All jokes aside, it would be awesome to see the Kings back in the playoffs. They last made the playoffs in 2006 with Mike Bibby and Peja, which is the second longest postseason drought in the NBA behind the Twolves. Even if they only make the eighth seed and have to play the Warriors, can you imagine how good of a series that will be. Sure Golden State will blow them out, but that would make for a really good series.
Never forget.
