Late breaking news tonight as Mizzou Football announced it has promoted longtime assistant and current DC Barry Odom to Head Coach to replace Gary Pinkel. Odom played for Mizzou from 1996 to 1999, and was originally hired here in 2002. He left in 2012 to take the DC job at Memphis, but returned last year to replace Dave Steckel. Now a year later, Barry O assumes the Head Coach position. Odom led a top-10 ranked defense this year and, honestly, he was the best choice. He was close to accepting the HC job at Memphis last week, but negotiations stalled. Mizzou AD Mack Rhoades also interviewed Temple HC Matt Rhule, Cal coach Sonny Dykes, and Houston HC Tom Herman (where Rhoades was the AD before joining Mizzou). But why not hire from within to replace the winningest coach in Mizzou history, especially if he might have left for another school.
Congrats to Barry! M-I-Z
